About Us
South HB Jiu Jitsu was built for this community by someone who loves it. Founded by Gabe Mauser, SHBJJ was built on a passion for the sport and a commitment to the people of Huntington Beach. Located at Magnolia and Adams, we offer a convenient and family-friendly atmosphere where everyone from first-timers to seasoned grapplers can train with confidence.
SHBJJ is a proud affiliate of Professor Magno Almeida. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Professor Magno began his journey in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at the age of 13 and has since dedicated his life to martial arts. A seasoned professional fighter with many years of experience, he has competed at the highest levels and continues to share his knowledge with his students.
Born and raised in Patu, Brazil, Joab Oliveira started training jiu jitsu at 14 years old, 15 years ago. He earned his black belt under Professor Felipe Fogolin at Triunfo MMA.
His competition titles include 2nd place at IBJJF Worlds and more than 20 IBJJF Open titles in the adult division.
Outside of jiu jitsu he loves to play soccer. He is married to Tiffany Amanda, who is also a jiu jitsu fighter and world champion.
Jessie has been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2014 and earned her Black Belt under Professor Ricardo Testai in 2023. She has earned multiple podium finishes in Jiu Jitsu World League and IBJJF competitions.As a proud mama of two strong boys, Jessie understands the positive impact martial arts can have on a child’s confidence, discipline, and character. With over 10 years of experience teaching kids, she creates a fun, supportive environment where students can develop strong Jiu-Jitsu skills while growing both on and off the mats.
